Vauxhall uses Texas Instruments ID40 transponder chips on older models (Astra G/H, Corsa C/D) and ID46 Megamos Crypto on newer models including Corsa E, Astra K, and Mokka X. The Corsa D and E Ultraflip remote key uses a fixed-code ID46 chip requiring EEPROM dump for all-keys-lost scenarios. Newer Vauxhall Mokka-e and Crossland use the PSA-group BSI unit (shared with Peugeot/Citroën post-2020 collaboration). My Vauxhall key fob has stopped unlocking the car — is the key broken?
Usually not. The most common cause is a flat CR2032 battery in the fob. Replace it and re-sync by holding the fob buttons. If that doesn't work, the fob remote circuit may have failed — we can replace the fob shell and re-programme it. If the car won't start either, the transponder chip needs re-pairing to the ECU.
