Audi A4 B8/B9, A6 C7/C8, Q5 and Q7 from 2016 onward use Megamos AES encryption (IMMO4/IMMO5) — the hardest VAG system, requiring EEPROM extraction via the instrument cluster or gateway module for all-keys-lost scenarios. What is Audi IMMO5 and why does it affect key replacement cost?
IMMO5 is Audi's latest immobiliser generation, introduced on A4 B9, A6 C8, Q5 (FY), and Q7 (4M) from around 2016. It uses Megamos AES 128-bit encryption — significantly harder to bypass than the earlier ID48 system. All-keys-lost on IMMO5 vehicles requires reading the EEPROM of the instrument cluster or gateway module to extract the CS/PIN. It's a more involved job (75–90 minutes) but entirely possible on-site.
My Audi Comfort Access key is not detecting the car — what is the problem?
Proximity detection failure on Audi Comfort Access can have several causes: flat fob battery (CR2025), worn antenna in the door handle, or the key losing its RF pairing. We can re-pair the proximity function on-site. If the key also fails to start the car, the transponder has de-programmed and needs a full ECU re-sync.
